Action: Set Up Your Web Site Hosting Account

Choose a Web Site Host

I'm going to give you some information on hosting.

But I'll start with my basic recommendation. Most people I know use hostgator. They have a plan where you can have unlimited domains. It's their inexpensive Reseller Hosting account. Things change but for the past several years most everyone I know uses Hostgator.

I recommend the Reseller account with Hostgator BUT if you're on a really low budget, you can start wtih their Hatchling or Baby Croc plans for a few bucks a month.

Sign up for the hosting account

Choose the host you want to use then go to their site and follow the instructions for ordering the package that suits you best.

After you signup you'll get an email from them with your new hosting account information included. Save that because you'll need it later on when you have to upload your files by FTP and when you need to make changes to your domain name to edit the Domain Name Servers.

Later, after your business grows, you can get a dedicated server. These will serve up your web pages faster because no one else will be on your server.

The TRICK behind shared hosting where you're only paying say $4-$10 a month is they have 5,000 or 10,000 sites on that server, so you're sharing it with that many people. Of course, most of those people don't get much traffic.

However, someone who does lots of video or other things can cause your server to spike, which means your web pages will load slow during those spikes.

After your business grows, you can get a dedicated server that is all yours for around $100 a month
